The origins of Electrify My Home go back over 35 years, to when our founder started in the HVAC industry, installing furnaces, air conditioners, water heaters, and improving the performance of homes through insulation and air sealing upgrades.
But as the state moved towards its own carbon reduction goals after the turn of the century, it was clear: there is a lot of work to be done in a short amount of time! As the electrification movement was born, so was Electrify My Home.
The Product of Over 250 Electrification Projects
After tackling over 250 electrification projects since 2015, the groundwork was laid for Electrify My Home. It was clear that in order to properly and seamlessly transition a home from all of its fossil fuel based and inefficient or outdated electric appliances, it would take a comprehensive and integrated approach.
Cutting the gas line affects more than just the heating and cooling system — it can also affect the kitchen, the laundry room, and the bathroom, too! But not every homeowner wants to go all in all at once when it comes to the expense of replacing a furnace, air conditioner, water heater, and clothes dryer.
Taking Electrification One Step at a Time
With a comprehensive plan in place, Electrify My Home can help you to take your electrification one step at a time. If your furnace needs replacing, why not start your electrification process by replacing it with an energy efficient heat pump, setting the stage for future electrification upgrades? We can even plan to integrate solar + battery installation into your plans, so that down the line you can further increase your independence from California's electrical grid.
More Than Just Appliances
One thing learned from the 35 years in the HVAC industry is that the more efficient a home is, the more efficient the new appliances and equipment will be. This is why we include the whole home philosophy when it comes to increasing the efficiency of a home before we begin the electrification process.
By upgrading your insulation, we can keep more of the conditioned air from your heating and cooling equipment from escaping your living space through the attic and roof, as well as the walls of your home. Air sealing your home will close up all the tiny holes and cracks in your home that allow air to freely flow in and out, bringing with it unwanted temperatures and outdoor pollutants, allergens, and chemicals. These two home performance upgrades can both increase the efficiency and comfort of your home, but more importantly they will increase your indoor air quality.
